Pawrus® Disciplinary Policy

Pawrus® Disciplinary Policy

PAWRUS® DISCIPLINARY POLICY

1 Discipline with respect to Students is governed by Academy & Group Statutes. Any student who is alleged to have committed or attempted to commit offences may be subject to disciplinary proceedings.

Students of Pawrus® should familiarise themselves with the Pawrus® Student Code of Conduct, which is intended to guide students’ conduct in both the academic and non-academic aspects of their Academy life by providing an overview of the behaviour generally expected of them as members of the Academy community.

2 Supervising Teachers are empowered to adjudicate any offences in relation to existing Students of the Academy. In such cases, appeals can be brought before the Managing Director if the disciplinary action is initiated by the Supervising Teacher or before the Supervising Teacher if initiated by a Teacher.

3 The Board of Discipline is empowered to adjudicate any offences in relation to any student of the Academy, whether existing or for whom the candidature has ceased, as long as the circumstances giving rise to the disciplinary proceedings arose while the person was a student of the Academy or in connection with the person’s admission into the Academy. The Board of Discipline is chaired by the Managing Director and comprises of one other Director. Appeals against the decisions of this Board are heard by the Disciplinary Appeals Board.

4 Pawrus® adopts the following approaches with regards to discipline.

(A) Verbal Reminders & Warnings

(B) Written Warnings & Compliance Letter

(C) Expulsion Notice & Appeals

(D) Criminal & Civil Action

(A) Verbal Reminders & Warnings

5 Verbal reminders are delivered by Teachers to Students in private when they have noticed that a potential offence might have been committed by Students. A maximum of three reminders shall be issued for the same offence and a maximum of five reminders shall be issued for the duration of the Student’s tenure with the Academy.

6 Verbal warnings are delivered by Teachers to Students in private when they have noticed that a mild to moderate offence might have been committed by Students. A maximum of two warnings shall be issued for the same offence and a maximum of three warnings shall be issued for the duration of the Student’s tenure with the Academy.

(B) Written Warnings & Compliance Letter

7 Written warnings are delivered by Supervising Teachers when they have noticed that a serious offence might have been committed by Students. A maximum of one warning shall be issued for the same offence and a maximum of two warnings shall be issued for the duration of the Student’s tenure with the Academy.

8 A final compliance letter is delivered by the Managing Director when all written warnings have been exhausted by Supervising Teachers.

    (C) Expulsion Notice & Appeals

9 If the Student does not abide to the conditions laid out in the final compliance letter, an expulsion notice will be sent to the Student, confirming his/her expulsion from the Academy.

10 Appeals may be submitted by Students within 7 days upon receipt of the expulsion notice. All appeals will be heard by the Disciplinary Appeals Board.

    (D) Criminal & Civil Action

11 The Academy will not hesitate to report any criminal offences to the Singapore Authorities.

12 The Academy reserves all rights, including the rights to commence legal proceedings with regards to the enforcement of the Student Contract and any offences contravening Service Agreement.
